Commercial Fire Inspection

Our teams are highly experienced in passive commercial fire inspections. With many years of experience between us, you can be confident that the report that you are getting is both complete, thorough and accurate.

As part of our commercial fire inspection, we will provide you with a comprehensive report, detailing, among other things, any potential structural and fire compartmentation issues that we find and an evaluated way to remove or reduce those risks. This allows you to clearly see where the issues lie, who would be affected and how you could remediate and manage those risks and issues. This can be detailed below.

Get in touch with us today if you have any questions about fire safety regulations, passive commercial fire inspections or how to make sure that your building is compliant with fire safety regulations and a member of our friendly team will be more than happy to assist you!
Why do you need A Commerical Fire Inspection?
A fire safety inspection ensures your building is safe and protects vulnerable individuals. All workplaces must consider fire risks and safety measures.

Which Buildings Require Fire Safety Inspections?
Fire safety inspections are mandatory for all non-residential buildings, such as offices, warehouses, schools, and universities. Smaller businesses with up to five employees are also required to maintain written records of their fire safety processes. Regular inspections are essential for ensuring the fire safety of buildings, regardless of their size.

Who Is Allowed to Conduct a Fire Safety Inspection?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2006, a designated "responsible person," such as the building owner or manager, can perform routine fire safety inspections. However, a professional inspection is also necessary to fully assess potential risks and certify that the building meets safety standards.

How Frequently Should Fire Safety Inspections Be Conducted?
While there isn't a strict schedule for fire safety inspections, they should be carried out on a regular basis. Generally, a responsible person should conduct an inspection annually, while a thorough professional inspection is recommended every four years. For buildings with three or more storeys, professional assessments are required every three years due to the increased complexity and risk.
The Five Steps Commercial Fire Safety Inspections

Identify Who Could be of Risk: Assess who may be at higher risk during a fire, including the elderly, disabled individuals, and children.
Evaluate and Remove Risks: Ensure clear, accessible evacuation routes for all, especially vulnerable people, and remove any identified risks.
Documents Findings: Document any risks and actions taken to rectify them, providing proof of the inspection and safety measures.
Create an Emergency Plan and Train Employees: Develop an evacuation plan and ensure all employees are trained in case of an emergency, with fire drills to practise.
Keep Up-To-Date: Regularly review fire safety procedures, particularly after any changes to the building’s layout.

Professional Fire Safety Inspections with GRJ Surveying
While annual inspections can be conducted by a responsible person, professional inspections are required every three to four years. We offer thorough fire risk assessments, ensuring your building complies with government regulations, and can advise on training and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

COMMERCIAL FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS

Commercial Fire Risk Assessment

Commercial fire risk assessments are important for businesses and may be required for some insurance providers. In recent years, there has been a big push on fire safety regulations and inspections, and with fire prevention now becoming a bigger concern than previously, it’s never been more important to ensure that you and your property are compliant with the latest fire safety regulations. We have been providing passive fire protection services since 2007 for companies all around the UK. It is also worth noting that fire safety regulations are in place to save lives and that commercial fire risk assessments and compartmentation surveys for non-documented fire compartmentation are required by law for all non-domestic properties. Although the law states that a commercial fire risk assessment is required for all non-domestic properties by law, it doesn’t state how regularly they must be carried out. The general consensus in the fire inspection industry is that risk assessments should be carried out annually. This allows businesses to keep up to date knowledge and records of their fire risks and their preventive measures.
