Fire Door Surveys
GRJ Surveying offers fully accredited fire door surveys for commercial buildings such as schools, hospitals and office buildings as well as residential buildings of multiple occupants.
Fire door inspections are necessary to ensure that your building meets all the relevant fire safety laws. Currently, with the most recent changes in the Fire Safety Regulations, you are required to have a fire door survey carried out on a bi-yearly basis, every six months.
Considering the importance of fire doors in efficient fire stopping, fire door surveys are essential to make sure all fire entrances and exits are in operational condition. Even the smallest defects such as broken smoke seals, pose a big risk for the function of your passive fire protection system.
All of our experienced fire safety contractors are third-party accredited with UKAS, ASFP and CHAS and provide trustworthy and accurate results. With teams all over the UK, you can rest assured that we can assist you no matter where you are based.

Here at GRJ Surveying our dedicated surveying specialists can help find the issue and check your compliance. If you have had a survey and are aware of the issue in need of repair, protection or maintenance then visit GRJ Contracting, where our contracting specialists can assist you.

Frequently Asked Questions
The precise cost of a fire door inspection will vary depending on a few factors including the size of your building and how many fire doors you have. To get an estimate of how much your fire door inspection will cost, please speak with a member of our team today.
Every fire door is fitted with intumescent strips on every edge. During a fire, the heat causes these strips to expand, filling the gap between the door and the frame. This seals the exit and prevents the spread of flames and smoke for a certain amount of time.
Fire doors should be kept closed at all times. Propping open a fire door temporarily to create access is okay, however, you should remove the fire stop immediately after. If you need a fire door to remain open it should be fitted with certified fire door retainers. These are designed to hold the fire door open and close it when a fire alarm is triggered.
